Hello! Well today has been pretty grand.I have NO homework, and I'm hungry. Which being hungry is a good thing, right now at least. First hour in science we took a quiz, graded it, then took notes. It was really boring but No homework, so it all evens out. Second hour in Algebra 1 we graded our homework from last night and then we got another work book page to do, just the odds though. I finished the whole thing with in today. Third hour in American history we finished saying our 15 battles in order. I still have mine memorized! Fourth hour in facs we went over our pre test to see how well we did. I did sooo bad! I think I only got two right on the three page test. That was the bread pan, and the spatula. After that we got all of our materials ready for tomorrow. We are going to cook, Macaroni and Cheese. So we got the recipe, and our materials ready for tomorrow. Fifth hour in P.E. we couldn't play hockey because the bad mitten nets were up. So we played bad mitten, and I am really bad. I can serve OK, but everything else isn't so good. Sixth hour in English we did this play, called Carrie Singer. It was a script Mrs. Halley had written about Hamlet. You know the book, by Shakespeare. Well she put it in her own funny words and instead of the Jerry Springer Show, the play she made for us was the Carrie Singer show. I was part of the audience. It was really funny, she is going to have the best people in our grade do it again and then she is going to post it on Teacher Tube. Which I guess is like You Tube but for teachers. I don't think I will be doing it, she said if you couldn't act like a Nascar Fan you wouldn't fit as any of the characters. But it was really funny to watch all the people act weird. Seventh hour I went to Mom's room and put away a lot of books. Then Mom had me run an errand, then I just finished up my last algebra problem. After school I went to the middle school weight room and we lifted weights for about an hour. Then we went into the gym and we fielded some balls. Mom picked me up when practice was over and brought me home. Alex now has practice at 6:00. I am going to just relax and eat a baked potato. I love those, especially with bacon bits on it. So Today has been very good and I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Tired. I want to go to bed, but it's too early. So I thought I would put my story on here at the bottom.
MEMORIES
By: Rachel Wheeler
Have you ever had an animal with a broken bone? I always have and always will be an animal lover. From goldfish, to snakes, to frogs, I’ve had many pets. While living in a home for twelve years I experience many tragic times, and happy times with these pals. I would just like to share with you one incident I had with a dog of mine.
One of my favorite pets was Chief. He is dead, but did not die from the story I am about to tell you. This big 50 pound Irish Setter was a small puppy in a big dogs body. He scared away my friends and little children, but at heart all he wanted was for you to sit, hold him, and pet him. One day, Alex and Me were outside playing in our playhouse. It was just big enough for me and him to sit in, with some leg room. So we thought we would try and put the dog in with us, he was a friend, why not? Now this playhouse was about five feet off the ground and had only two ways of getting in. Either you went up the ladder, or you went up the slide, and the most logical way to get up was the ladder. So we pushed the dog up inside, and then followed him in to sit down. After a few minutes of petting him, and then rearranging our selves, we knew this wasn’t going to work. So you know what happens next. The dog had to go.
We had two options, push him down the slide, or push him down the ladder. Of course, we chose to push him down the ladder. So we both shoved as hard as we could and he tumbled down. He squealed, and cried, while hopping around on three legs. We ran inside and told Mom and Dad exactly what had happened. Dad loaded him up in his truck and took him to the vet. I was scared, and sad, but not as scared and sad as my brother. Alex was crying and worried sick that Chief wasn’t going to make it. Of course when your in the third grade, you don’t know any better than to think that.
When Dad came home, the dog was fine. Except for he had a something on his leg. When we asked what was wrong, he informed us that Chief just had a cracked bone in his leg. So for the next few weeks he stayed inside the house. Sleeping on the floor in our room, and spending the days outside playing with us after school. Chief was a good dog and a loyal friend. Even after what we had done to him, he still loved us.
So have you ever had an animal with a broken bone? I have, and it was a lesson learned. This is just one of the many memories I have of Chief and my old home. Since then I have made new ones in my new home and miss Chief dearly. This is just one memory that comes to mind. I hope you enjoyed this story and I hope you enjoy your time and memories with your own pets.
